IPA Brazil hold Police Pride Day

The bureau of the International Police Association’s Brazilian Section in the State of Rio de Janeiro - IPA Brazil / RJ, celebrated a “Police Pride Day” on 22 May 2021, in a solemn act at the IPA Brazil Headquarters in Rio of January.

The event was attended by several members of the IPA in the State of Rio de Janeiro and guests. In addition to the commemorative ceremony, a shooting competition was held in the grounds of the Headquarters.

The event took place to strengthen the feeling the pride of being a police officer, and in response to criticism that the police in Rio de Janeiro had received from several national media outlets, following a police operation that took place on the hill of Jacarezinho (city of Rio de Janeiro) against drug trafficking. This confrontation had resulted in 28 fatalities, including the death of police officer André Frias.
