IPA Newsletter February 2021 - Word of introduction

03 Feb 2021

Dear IPA friends,

The year 2021, which we were all awaiting impatiently, arrived bringing with it a message of optimism for humanity.

Admittedly, the past year 2020 turned out to be one of the most difficult imaginable for all of us. But we were happy to leave it behind, and look into the new year positively due to the development of the coronavirus vaccines, making us all smile with relief.

The global community has mobilised rapidly, and millions of vaccine doses have already travelled across the world, increasing our hopes that this year, we will finally begin to return to our much-coveted normality.

Together with my fellow International Executive Board members, I look forward to meeting you all again in beautiful Spain for the World Congress 2021, but hopefully also at various other sports, cultural and regional meetings. We are already getting ready for the 2nd IPA Games and many other events.

Until we are able to meet again in person, we continue to communicate in an interactive way with the help of technology, and personally, I am extremely happy to witness that many sections are making a huge effort to stay in touch with their members by organising both virtual and physical events – the latter of course within a permissible framework!

I am pleased to mention a pioneering new event, the first IPA Virtual Race Week, which will take place from 14-21 February 2021. It is open to every single IPA member and their close ones around the world, and I call on everyone to support this event.

After all, our historic association has proved numerous times in its 70-year history that it can endure! Friendship endures all and wins all! And the IPA is above all FRIENDSHIP!

I would like to close this Word of Introduction with an optimistic wish:
