IPA Newsletter July - August 2022 - Word of introduction

05 Jul 2022

Dear IPA Friends,

Summer is here. A special summer. A summer of freedom and rebirth!

Restrictions and prohibitions, at least to a large extent, have ceased, and this makes us feel optimistic. If quarantine showed us anything, it is what is important in our lives, and what it is that we lack in order to feel as complete and happy as possible.

The events that we missed so much are thankfully coming back: the IPA Games, the Folk Festival, regional meetings, friendship weeks, seminars, and so many other opportunities for travel and gatherings.

These events give meaning and recognition to the IPA’s existence as a global organisation

All long-established projects are of course continuing at the same time, but it is worth highlighting that those projects which were initiated during the quarantine period were especially appreciated by IPA members worldwide.

While attending the Mediterranean sections’ meeting, which took place recently at the shores of the beautiful Lake Ohrid in Northern Macedonia, I had the opportunity to meet several of my fellow IPA Socio-Cultural Commission members. It was a great opportunity to review our work so far, but also to plan future activities, which will be announced soon.

Of course, the problems that the entire world faces, have not simply stopped. Wars, threats of war, lack of goods in many countries, are a typical sign of the difficult times we currently live in.

However, the IPA, committed to its principles and values, continues its dynamic offers to our colleagues and to society. I therefore encourage you to meet each other and hug tightly, enjoy the sun and the sea, and regain your strength!

I am looking forward to seeing many of you soon.

Have a Happy Summer!

Kyriakos Karkalis, IPA Vice President & Chairperson Socio-Cult. Commission
